WORCESTER ― An explosive moment was caught on camera over the weekend, when a manhole cover was launched into the air just after 6 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Grafton and Franklin streets.
MB Lounge, located at 40 Grafton St., caught the incident on a security camera and shared the video to social media.
"This intense video captures the shocking moment as it unfolded — watch as drivers and bystanders escape a potentially devastating situation," the post said.
The Worcester Fire department was already on scene, investigating reports of a smoking manhole, when the explosion took place.
The fire self-extinguished and no injuries were reported. The cause of the explosion remains under investigation.
Several people commented on the post to say they had heard a loud bang in the area around the same time.
